Slam is a one of a kind surf festival in the Rocky Mountains. It features events filled with music, art, river surfing, skate and surf culture. Our surf festival is built on a 12 year history of the Alberta River Surfing Association & Surf Anywhere hosting an annual surf slam in the mountains. It is now the longest running of its kind.
This year Slam will be bigger and more bad ass then ever. Partners like Quiksilver, Bass Buss, Big Winter Classic, Big Rock Beer, and Red Bull have been helping us bring even more surf vibes to Calgary’s mountain loving, art creating, concrete skating, rockin community. If you haven’t heard of Slam be sure to check out the events page and go through the lineup for 2018
At quiksilver, we believe boardriding is a universal source of fun, freedom and natural energy, so powerful it transforms lives. From the mountains and the wave to the streets we shape boardriding culture, infusing art with performance and performance with art, creating premium products and experiences to awaken the spirit of boardriding that lives in everyone.
Big Rock Brewery has been at the forefront of the craft beer revolution since 1985. Our three initial offerings have grown to ten signature beers, ongoing seasonals, four ciders and custom-crafted private label products enjoyed nationwide. We believe today, as our founder Ed McNally believed in 1985, that to raise one glass is to raise an entire industry.
Big Rock Brewery. Craft for All.
BIG Winter Classic was born out of an idea to celebrate Calgary year-round, not just in the fleeting summer months. Arts, music local beer and YOU collide at BIG Winter Classic for a four-day winter wonderland weekend. They take the best and funnest people in our city and put them in a room together to create, imagine, dream, drink and play, all in the dead of winter. Big and Slam brought you last year’s rooftop patio party and are back at it again for 2018. This time we are thinking block party in Inglewood. What do you say… see you there?

John Jameson founded his distillery in Smithfield, Dublin in 1780. From the very beginning he concentrated on the quality of his whiskey, demanding the best ingredients. He wanted to make the world’s finest whiskey so he selected the best casks from around the world, freshest barley and the purest Irish water. These traditions are still honoured today. Right down to sending reps from Ireland to help us make Slam grow into the vision we see for Calgary.
